10 Marketing Tips That Will Make You Money... Now!!!

Here are some easy to implement marketing tips that you can apply to your business to increase response rates and generate sales...instantly!

These are some of the tricks of the trade that have been proven effective through over 100 years of real world usage. But you can learn them in 15 minutes!

We start with two tips regarding headlines:

1. Emphasize an existing benefit

First things first, you need to get potential customers to even look at your ad. People are selfish-they want to know what's in it for them. So stress a benefit, not one of your features.

Example: The World's Most Potent Anti-Aging Moisturizer

Becomes: Achieve Smoother, Younger-Looking Skin in 4 Weeks Or Your Money Back!

2. Add "How To" to the beginning of your headline

After years of testing countless different headlines, "How To" consistently outpulls the others. So, the above example would become "How To Achieve Smoother, Younger-Looking Skin in 4 Weeks Or Your Money Back!"

Pretty easy so far! Let's check out three tips concerning the copy of any ads or letters you may be using.

3. Write in your customer's voice

To gain the reader's confidence, you want to sound like he sounds. You want to speak conversationally, talk in his (or her) language, and be interesting. High-fallutin' talk, or dry corporate babble, won't get the job done. Talk like you are the reader's friend, understand his problem and have a great solution for him.

4. Stress the benefits your customer receives, not your product's features

As mentioned in Tip #1, your customers are selfish. They want to know what's in it for them. If you dedicate your copy to showing potential customers ALL the ways they'll benefit, they'll become ACTUAL customers. But you must take your product's features and present them as benefits.

5. Put your office phone number in your copy, and encourage calls

People are inherently suspicious of ads from "faceless corporations" that very well may be a scam. It takes a certain amount of trust to get them to send money to someone they don't know sight unseen. By placing a phone number in the ad and asking them to call if they have any questions, you help to make the offer appear to be more legitimate to potential customers.

If you use any pictures in your advertising, be sure to follow Tip #6.

6. Picture what others wish to be, not what they are now

Your customers don't want to be reminded and explicitly shown their problems. When looking to buy a product or service, they are looking for a solution. So, show them the end result.

Example: Picture of Wrinkled Lady

Becomes: Picture of Lady With Wonderful Skin Being Admired By A Man

Our next three tips deal with effective guarantees.

7. Strengthen the guarantee

In every transaction, one side assumes most of the risk. So if you assume most of the risk, you make it much easier for the customer to take action. You can:

  • Lengthen the amount of time the guarantee is good for: 90 Days to 1 Full Year!
  • Offer a larger rebate: Double Your Money Back!
  • Make it easier to achieve: No Questions Asked!

By strengthening the guarantee you can expect to receive two to three times the amount of returns…but…you can also expect two to three times more sales! If you are nervous about how many people will want their money back, you can simply try it on a smaller test market before making a wide-scale change.

8. Stress the guarantee

All right, you just increased your guarantee... but... it does no good if nobody knows about it! Listen, most companies offer some type of guarantee. But because they are afraid of returns (or maybe they just assume their customers know their satisfaction is guaranteed), they don't place any emphasis on it. If you have a quality product or service, stress your guarantee. Let everyone know you're willing to put your money where your mouth is!

9. Make your guarantee specific

We again remind you that people are inherently suspicious. Sure, you might say "money-back guarantee," but will I have to jump through hoops to get it? Describe your guarantee exactly.

Example: Money Back Guarantee

Becomes: We offer a 14-Day risk-free trial. We insist you post-date your check 14 days. So try our product for two weeks, and if for any reason you aren't satisfied, we'll send you back your uncashed check!

It never ceases to amaze us how few companies use our final tip.

10. Rework your client list

Chances are that your company is sitting on a potential gold mine: your client list. You've already put time and money into persuading these people to try your service. If you've delivered what they expected (and I'm sure you have!), you have gained an extremely valuable commodity-their trust. Continually offer your customers additional great products and services. You can also create a referral program to use your current customers to generate new ones.

Example: Our anti-aging company could put together an educational packet about skin-care including facts about potential risks, healthy habits, reprints of any pertinent magazine articles and a free sample. Ask your customers to nominate friends to receive the packet. For every referral received offer the customer a coupon, or free bottle, etc.

We're on such a roll I'm including a bonus tip.

11. Run a joint-venture

Just as your own client list is extremely valuable, you should look for other companies who have also invested time and money into developing your sort of customers. Look for companies that sell a product or service that is related to yours, but does not directly compete with your own.

Example: Our Anti-Aging Cream Company can look to team up with a beauty salon...or a tanning salon...or a company specializing in Hair Care products...or a Beauty Magazine...or...well, you get the picture.

These 11 tips (and the many tips buried inside the tips) should get your creative juices flowing. There's lots of money out there if you've got something the market wants. Go out and get it!
